“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” ― Earl Nightingale
This quilt took around 2.5 years to complete, it is my very first English Paper Pieced project. You could say that this quilt is cake & ale's origin story, and it is called "the therapist". When you have three children with additional needs you spend a lot of time in therapists offices... speech, occupational therapy, vision therapy, psychs.... many hours spent scrolling on your phone. So I picked up a needle and make myself a blanket for instead!
The quilt is made out of 1" hexies with fabric sample cards from my time as an in-house designer for J. Leutenegger back in the 2010's. I hand quilted and knotted this project which is is something a little different from my standard big stitch quilting.
I love her so much, she's on bed now and just in time as its starting to get a little chilly up here in the 'Gog at night. One happy thing about wrapping this project up is that I am not underway on my first official cake & ale quilt pattern, VERY excited about this one!!!
Ill grab some photos of the new design for next week's update!
