Accidentally Now A Fabric Designer...

So much has happened this year, so very much. I feel like I hit the ground running last September and have only just started to come up for air - and I regret nothing. Nothing, except that I have forgotten to spill the tea, more than once. Part of that being a complete lack of head space / executive functioning skills (spicy Possums you'll get it), the other... I think I was battling my imposter syndrome more than I realised.

Instead of proudly exclaiming that I had TWO ranges coming out (now three, scroll back if you didn't see Binding Glory), I just sat on my hands as the saying goes. I know, stupid. With Spot though, I felt more than a little silly going "look at me!!!" when it was a spot? Hardly revolutionary. Now I am ready to embrace that yes, I did design a spot fabric, and I love it. I created - quite by accident, a chunky, organic, fun coloured spot range. OK haters, you can hate now. I wasn't lying when I said it was an accident. I originally pitched the egg yolk yellow / fawn with black spot combo as an option for Binding Glory. There was absolutely no plan to turn this into a range, until Jackson (of House of Jackson) got himself involved. I am so glad he did, thanks babe!. So what was a binding concept, quickly became a 27 SKU spot range! Now I really should have added a scale ruler onto the swatches, but just know they are 5" wide in reality, so those lovely rough spots are quite chunky.

What will I be doing with these you ask? Well, I have a most excellent plan to create some postage stamp zipper pouches with these AND the Iconic Binding Glory stripes, and of course use them in any upcoming 3D makes I may be cooking up (the list is long Possums). Even more excitingly, K and K fabrics have agreed to make sure that Jackson and I BOTH have yardage ready by September so we (Jackson) and sell it at our SYDNEY QUILT SHOW BOOTH!!! Now, how best to display all of these prints?? Well, I hope you were mentally saying quilt because that is exactly whats happening. My bestie (Nikki of Cotton Craft Designs) has designed, and will be making me the BEST quilt for my side of the booth. If this isn't besties love I do not know what is.

QUEST - FEATURING SPOT BY CAKE & ALE BY K AND K FABRICS.
QUEST - FEATURING SPOT BY C&A + CCD. MANUFACTURED Y K AND K FABRICS.

Now I will cop an ass whopping for putting this "bodgy" mock up on the blog, not to fret I will have it rendered nicely for the FREE download that will be available very soon. The pattern is written (thanks Nikki) and creating the download is the very next job on todays list.

The quilt, "Quest" is 40" square, it will also be available in a cushion pattern "Side Quest". I promise I will pop a blog up with the download links as soon as it's been signed off by all relevant parties. I hope you have enjoyed the update! If you are wondering where you can buy some, and I really hope you are, it is Available in Australia through KK Fabrics (you can ask your local retailer to order some in) and will be coming out in Autumn 2026. If you are international it will be available in the UK and US (through Checkers Distributors).

Thanks for reading to the end! Until next time Possums xoxo
