This project was born out of the selfish desire to have a portion control dish for when I get the gummy lolly cravings. It's mid winter here, gloomy, and I'm looking for my happiness in all the places... if left alone with a bag of party mix I will have a snacident and eat the whole thing. Due to all the cloud cover (sadly no rain) I decided to make myself a portable little sun that could spark joy on these miserable days. Solar may not be your ideal snack dish, but it makes a handy ring keeper, hair clip organiser.... you could easily hack to pattern to create cool 3D Christmas decorations.

Just a friendly heads up, the side panels are fiddly to baste and even fiddlier to sew. If you are like me and fiddly isn't your favorite give this pattern a miss and wait for our next star dish that is coming out next month.
In the pattern we recommend a fat 1/8th of fabric but this project really does want to use up all of those tiny off-cuts you have been holding onto. Our sample has been created with off cuts from three previous quilts and a previous C&A project.
