And just like that we are half way though 2025, anyone else slightly horrified at the thought?? Wont be long and people will be telling me how many weekends until Christmas, and on that note, I am seeing Christmas fabrics appearing at my favourite quilt shops. I. Am. NOT. Ready.
What I am ready for, is a little bit of show and tell!
For my Orbit quilt sew along I have decided to start a second piece of my quilt. This does mean that August will have a few weeks in the top half, and the rest of the month in the bottom half, but eventually they will be reunited. You'll see in the photos what I mean. BUT it will mean that I will have one straight seam to sew across the entire quilt width, which all things to plan should be a straightforward affair (pun intended).

Can see above the two rows where August will slot in?. I am hoping that having two pieces will make it a little easier to work, the silk dupion fraying (top row, seventh square in)... its right on seam allowance in spots 0_0.
This month features one birthday (my biggest sister), as well as all three versions of the new studio pattern "nested blooms". Two Tula prints and one Sally Kelly print. I am really enjoying having a visual diary for studio projects as well as birthdays, weather and playing with what calls in my stash.

Those bananas... they make me laugh. Hubby picked those out at the fabric shop last year and he was excited I finally included them in this quilt. It was just happenstance that the bananas ended up near the fried eggs... I may have had the "if its not pinned down I am eating it" PMS last month. (Soz for the overshare, it was epic though. Seriously gained a few kg's).
Shameaka is still MIA, I hope the move is going smoothly!!!
Jenny as always had her photos over to me by the first of this month. I live for this level of enthusiasm! xx

Love this so very much, Jenny - I can't wait to see how you quilt this one!!! And lastly Lee. "The temperature quilt is up to date …. Till the end of May! The purples have a story though. Turns out I hadn’t allocated low enough temperatures so found some more purples in the stash. My lightest purple for the coldest temp had to move down a couple temps to accommodate the new shades. Thankfully it had only been used twice in April so i left them in figuring the temperature difference would just read as COLD and no one will check my recording accuracy (BTW - I did research high, low and averages from previous years before allocating colours, so if we thought this year feels colder, we are correct!)"

And thats it!! We'll be back next month with more Orbit updates. Cass xx
