Nine months down, how are we now in October??? We are well and truly heading for the festive end of the year at an alarming rate - next thing you know people will be telling us how many weekends until Christmas (yikes). But I am getting ahead of myself though, lets celebrate September and the fantastic additions to our Orbit quilts.

First quilt off the mark, Lee's temperature quilt! Which as of this morning was voted best Orbit quilt by my girls, unsurprisingly really, my youngest LOVES purple so this is right up her ally.

September in Lee's words: "September bringing in changes and a fresh dash of yellow I’ve gradually altered the way I construct the temperature quilt…. from stitching each block by hand onto the quilt daily - to machine piecing the two halves and adding by hand each day - onto assembling the entire month by machine then hand stitching the month strip to the quilt. It’s grand to have something to stitch everyday but it hasn’t proved to be the most versatile plan, having to wait for the temperature result before even cutting, sometimes there has been a slight change in the reading by the next day .. but I leave it in. I’ve also stopped unpicking if the rectangles are pieced in the wrong direction. I no longer mark the stitching line on the back and stitch it by eye ( I’ve purchased some reading glasses too, what a difference they make! )"

I just love this quilt so much!! Next up - Jenny and her fabulous creation.

Jenny has now reached full width and length! (I am excited to do so this month). I love how the colours balance over this piece, and that pink! I am still in love with it.

Lastly we have my quilt. Celebrating my hubby's 40th Orbit of the sun... its worth looking to see what juvenile print he chose for himself. I had to buy half a yard of that fabric at his request, now I have... well, most of a yard left. Project suggestions??? Lolz.

I am three blocks short in this picture, but as I sew my Orbit together on the weekends I wont have a full month shot until next week. Further to what Lee said... I have a set of four blocks that are not oriented the way they should be. Embrace the wabi sabi! Life is too short to unpick a perfectly sewn seam. Aside from the better half's birthday this months Orbit has a LOT of Jeniffer Paganelli's Sweet Talk range featured. This is to mark the days I worked on the three nested blooms bowls in Blue / Green / Red prints as well as some VERY non trad Christmas trees. Super excited to be releasing those this month, patterns in editing and I have two more trees to assemble.

Catch you all next month Possums! Cass xx
